Filmmaker
Roxy Fahrat, born in 1984 in Tehran, Iran, is a Swedish artist and filmmaker based in Stockholm. She graduated in Fine Arts from Konstfack, Stockholm, and Gerlesborg School of Fine Arts, before studying performative arts at UCLA, Los Angeles, where she got an MFA in New Genres. She now works at the crossroad of various media, from documentary to video art and performance, and explores themes of anti-racism, intersectional feminism, and community engagement. Roxy has performed all around Sweden, as well as in Milan and Los Angeles, and has exhibited in major Swedish museums, such as Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Malmö Konstmuseum. She has received several scholarships, both from UCLA and the Swedish Arts Grants Committee, and several awards for her work as a filmmaker.
