Frédérique Daubal trained as a graphic designer but has constantly challenged the definition. She explores different creative fields in multiple places. Currently living in Paris after Montreal, London and Amsterdam, she hasn’t lost her multi-dimensional talents as a graphic designer, visual artist & textile designer. Her conceptual work is infused with humour and irony. It is shaped from craft and recycling techniques. Most of her medium and fabrics refer to daily life and to the fantasy that we could find into it. A strong position is found implicitly in many series. Frédérique Daubal committed themes make those who are wearing her textile act and react. Attached to the concept of the mask, from hide and seek to overprint, Daubal hides the faces to emphasize what is happening behind them or to leave us free to interpret.
