Heidi Edström is a Stockholm based artist who has a persistent obsession with lumps, bumps, tubers, humps, knobs, knots, hunches, rotters, louts etc., all of which can go by the same word in the Swedish language, were they are known as ”Knölar”. In Heidi's world, the Knöl embodies all that refuses to be flattened down or smoothed out. It is an obscure body that can be disturbing, queasy and uncomfortable, but through its uncontrollable imperfections it is asking what it is to be a living, breathing organism in our fabricated world.
