Monica Förster, born in 1966 in Stockholm, Sweden, is a designer raised in Dorotea, close to the Arctic circle. She graduated from Konstfack and Beckmans College of Design and is based in Stockholm, where she has had her own design studio since 1999. Her creations, characterized by a great purity and a never-ending curiosity for materials and technology, are among the most internationally renowned Swedish design pieces and have been shown all around the world in solo exhibitions, group shows, and fairs. Monica is represented in the collections of Nationamuseem, Stockholm, Nasjonalmuseet, Oslo, and Röhsska Museum, Gothenburg. She has received awards such as the Designer of the Year Award from Elle Deco Sweden and Residence Magazine, the Lauritz Icon Award, and grants from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee. As one of the most established Swedish designers, she collaborates with international companies, among which Alesso, Benhardt, De Padova, Volvo CE, and Swedese.
