Matt Lambert

matt lambert (they/them) is a PhD researcher in artistic practice at Konstfack University, in Stockholm. lambert’s research enacts what theorist Irit Rogoff calls “queer animations of archives” and historical rooms to map queer possibilities and potentials through a developed method of cruising. They hold an MA in Critical Craft Theory from Warren Wilson College and an MFA in Metalsmithing from Cranbrook.

lambert currently is based in Stockholm Sweden and was born and still maintains a studio in Detroit MI, US. They have exhibited work nationally and internationally including at: Turner Contemporary, Margate, UK, ArkDes, Sweden, Museo de la Ciudad, Spain and Walker Art Center, U.S. lambert represented the U.S in Triple Parade at HOW Museum, China, represented Norway during Salon del Mobile, Italy and has had a solo exhibition at the Benaki Museum, Greece. lambert was a curatorial fellow at Center for Craft co-curating Desire Paths with Lauren Kalman.

lambert actively contributes writing to: C Magazine, Metalsmith Magazine, Klimt02, The Vessel, Surface Design Journal, Art Jewelery Forum, and Garland. They were the guest editor of Decorating Dissidence Journal issue #15 on Tools, Use and Mastery. Their work is in the collections of the MAD Museum, NYC and The Havgapet Collection, Sleneset, Norway and have been published in texts such as Cultural Affairs: Art Without Borders published by De Gruyter.
