Maria Pita Guerreiro, born in 1991 in Viana do Castelo, Portugal is a Stockholm-based interdisciplinary designer. After studying product design, graphic design, and painting in Lisbon, she took an MFA in Design at Konstfack. Maria joined Misschiefs as a guest artist in the group exhibition Fine Dying.
Maria's work is at the intersection of design, science, and health. Her most recent focus is on material research, alternative therapies and self-sustaining practices, working alongside actors in the scientific community. She has a longstanding interest in designing with the DISGUSTING or REPULSIVE and what emerges from those feelings, mainly through her favorite mediums: fungi and other living organisms.
While in Portugal, she worked closely with product development, mainly in collaboration with VICARA Design Studio, with whom she has launched a collection of products. Besides this Maria has participated in numerous art and design residencies throughout Europe and her work has been featured internationally at design fairs, museums, and galleries. In parallel to her artistic practice, she has the role of co-producer for the annual graduation show at Konstfack University.
